Long Answer:  Indeed, it is really quite an easy process to microwave beets.  This is the simplest method to preparing beets for eating.

  1. Cut the greens off. Keep them and store them in an airtight plastic bag. They are edible.
  2. Dispose of the tails.
  3. Scrub the roots very well.
  4. Put the whole beets unpeeled in a microwave-safe bowl. Peeling after they have been cooked is much easier than doing it before.
  5. Put a little bit of water in the bowl.
  6. Cover the bowl with clear wrap.
  7. Microwave for five minutes.
  8. Take them out. Allow them to cool.
  9. Peel, dice and flavor as you like.
