Face primer is a product that you should always use before you apply any makeup to your face. If you have never used a product such as this, you are really missing out! What a primer does is it creates a strong barrier between the makeup you apply and your skin. The primer offers a very soft and smooth surface for you to put your makeup on. With a primer, you don’t have to worry about what type of skin you have and how to apply makeup in a way that won’t clog your lines and wrinkles. It is almost like there is some type of mask over your face that can be complete opposite of what your skin really is like.
If you suffer from acne bumps or you have a lot of lines on your face, they will not show under your makeup because the primer will be there. If you suffer from oily skin, you don’t have to worry about that anymore because the primer will absorb most of the oils on your skin leaving you with soft, dry but not too dry and smooth skin. Another great thing about face primers is that they can greatly reduce any inflamation you may be suffering from along with redness. If you just bought a face primer, know that you made an excellent choice and you will love how great it will make your face and makeup look! Here are some steps to follow that will leave you with flawless skin after applying your primer.
Step #1: Use Your Face Cleanser
It’s important that you spend time ensuring your face is as clean as possible. You surely don’t want any unwanted particles getting in with your face primer and makeup. Use a great face cleanser every morning before you apply any makeup to your skin, even if it’s just a primer. Always pat dry your face as well. It’s never good to run a towel down your face as you can cause redness and irritation.
Step #2: Moisturize
It is true that your skin is very absorbent when it’s wet and you want your skin to appear as soft and smooth as possible. Find your best moisturizer and apply it to your face after you wash it. Allow the moisturizer to fully absorb into your skin for about three minutes before you move onto the next step! You don’t want your moisturizer affecting the way that your primer goes on, so be sure you allow your face plenty of time to dry.
Step #3: Applying Your Primer
Put a small amount of primer onto your fingertips. You won’t need a whole lot when it comes to using primer, you just need enough to put one layer over all the areas of your face. Using a wedge sponge, or your other fingertips, dab a very small amount onto your face. You should start with your under eyes and move to your nose.
After you do your eyes and nose, you can then apply the primer to your forehead, cheeks and your chin. You can use the same sponge or your fingertips to rub your makeup into your skin. With this product, you don’t really have to have an even coverage. You can put a little more primer on one area of your face than other if the makeup tends to wear off quickly in that area of your face. Your t zone and large pores are some areas where you will probably want to apply a little more.
Step #4: Let it Dry
You should allow the primer to dry for at least 3 minutes before you use your foundation and your concealer. If you notice some areas of your skin where it doesn’t appear there is enough primer, you can simply add a little more. Just be careful not to add too much as it’s not needed and you could be wasting it. You just want enough so that there is the barrier between the makeup and the skin, as we talked about earlier.
